Our Story

The humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs Serbia was established in 2005. Serbs for Serbs Canada was formed in the fall of 2014. We registered as a Not-For-Profit Corporation in November, 2015 and received charitable status designation in January of 2016.

Serbs for Serbs Canada supports the work of the humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs, based in Belgrade, Serbia. Together with other Serbs for Serbs groups in Serbia, Republika Srpska, Montenegro, U.S., Switzerland, Norway, Germany, Sweden, and Austria, money is raised to aid Serbian families throughout the Balkans who live in poverty, particularly those with multiple children. Help is provided primarily in the form of shelter, furniture and appliances, health care, farming equipment and livestock.

Serbs for Serbs Canada holds three major annual campaigns: In Time for Božić which directs projects to families sponsored at Christmas time; Palačinka Party, held each spring and the sports tournament Trojka iz Bloka. Approximately $220,000 has been raised in Canada since the organization's inception.

In 2015, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia bestowed upon our charity organization the order of Saint Sava. Serbs for Serbs was also honoured to receive the 2017 Herojsko Delo (Heroic Work) award from the city of Belgrade.

To provide the poorest Serbian families, particularly those with multiple children, with the basic necessities of life in order to become self-sufficient and contributing members of society.

Serbs for Serbs believes, above all else, that children are our future.
